This short-term virtual mobility programme organized by the NCKU Overseas Hub in Malaysia was designed for dental students around the globe to experience and learn beyond classroom teaching on the topic of “Oral Cancer and Intercultural Practises” by distinguished academicians and facilitators from the participating universities. The programme aimed to provide a better understanding of oral cancer epidemiology, the behavioural risks related to oral cancer, and supportive care for oral cancer patients. In addition, the programme provided exposure to different lifestyles and cultures around the world, as well as fostering new friendships among students from different schools and countries.
In summary, the NCKU Overseas Hub in Malaysia's first virtual mobility has successfully gathered:
Here is one feedback from a dental student from Vietnam after joining the programme "I've learnt a lot about the betel quid and its component. My Grandma also chews that thing a lot and it really concerns me about the risk of her having oral cancer. I will talk with her about stopping or reducing the chewing rate after this and hope that she can live her life longer and healthier."
Prof. Dr. Yuniardini from the Universitas Indonesia, Indonesia also shared her positive feedback on the programme "Thank you very much for the opportunity for us to join the program. Definitely the program has increased the students' experience as well as networking. These are very important to support their professional career in the future."
