[Webinar Series] Viscous Flow and Its Application by Dr Chih-Che Chueh

2023-08-18

Dr. Chih-Che Chueh, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, College of Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, was the third presenter of the NCKU Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics Online Lecture Series. Dr. Chueh’s research interests include porous media characterization/design, computational fluid dynamics, electrochemical modeling, heat and mass transfer in environmental systems, and cloud physics and aerosol transport. On August 16th, 2023, Dr. Chueh presented a lecture on the title of “Viscous flow and its applications” to a group  online audience from Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines, and Vietnam.

In this webinar, the basic physics of viscous flow was presented. Viscous flow refers to the behavior of fluids that resist motion due to internal friction between their layers or particles. It is a common phenomenon in many practical applications, from the flow of blood in the human body to the movement of oil through pipelines. Understanding the properties and dynamics of viscous flow is essential in many engineering and scientific fields, including fluid mechanics, materials science, and biomedical engineering. Accurate modeling and analysis of viscous flow can help optimize the design and performance of various systems, such as engines, turbines, and chemical reactors, among others. Dr. Chueh’s full presentation was recorded and made available on NCKU Overseas Hub in Malaysia’s Facebook page via this link: https://fb.watch/mzV1Q98V_9/.

The next series is scheduled on September 13th, 2023 will be under the title of “Recent case studies of energetic material for propulsion” by Associate Professor Dr. Chih-Yung Wu. These webinar series were co-organized by the NCKU Overseas Hub in Malaysia and the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, NCKU with the aim to promote the research and experiences of NCKU researchers to academicians, researchers or even industry players from different parts of the world.
