Key Highlights of NCKU Overseas Week 2025

Over five consecutive years (2021-2025), NCKU Overseas Week has firmly established itself as a flagship annual international initiative of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). The program is jointly organized and coordinated by three NCKU Overseas Hubs in Southeast Asia-Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, demonstrating a strong and sustained regional collaboration framework. NCKU Overseas Week aims to promote academic exchange, expand international research collaboration, and strengthen institutional linkages across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Webinar series consistently addresses key global challenges, including healthcare transformation, digital and AI-driven sustainable development, and interdisciplinary and international research cooperation. Through each annual edition, NCKU Overseas Week has evolved into a robust platform for knowledge sharing and for initiating bilateral and multilateral collaborative projects connecting Taiwan with Southeast Asian partners.

In 2025, NCKU Overseas Hubs continued to advance this international engagement mission through three consecutive online Webinars held from December 2 to December 4, 2025. The event featured 16 distinguished speakers and Moderator from leading universities, research institutes, and industry partners across Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, including National Cheng Kung University; International University -Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City; Mahidol University; Delta Electronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited; and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. This diverse lineup strongly reflected the interdisciplinary and international character of the program.

NCKU Overseas Week 2025 – Speakers & Topics

Pre-registration data further highlighted the broad and diverse audience profile of NCKU Overseas Week 2025. Among all registrants, 43% were University faculty and staff, 40% were students (high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate), 3% were from hospitals, 2% represented industry, 2% were from government agencies, and the remaining 10% comprised NGOs, freelancers, and other professional groups. This wide participation clearly demonstrated that NCKU Overseas Week has become an effective bridge linking academia, healthcare, industry, and public administration within an open and inclusive forum for dialogue.

Viewers’ Occupation of NCKU Overseas Week 2025

Throughout the three-Webinar series, the event attracted Researchers, Faculty members, Educational administrators, Industry specialists, Physicians, Engineers, and Representatives from both public and private sectors. Discussions focused on advanced applications of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare, interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development, and international collaboration models connecting Taiwan and Southeast Asia. The strategic selection of themes and the intensive one-week format further reaffirmed NCKU’s long-term vision of integrating core research pillars, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and modern biomedical and healthcare sciences.

By the conclusion of the series, NCKU Overseas Week 2025 recorded a total of 2,281 viewers from 24 countries and territories via Cisco Webex and Facebook livestream, including Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, the United States, Cambodia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Singapore, Nigeria, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, South Korea, Myanmar, Tunisia, Laos, Paraguay, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, and Ethiopia. This extensive international reach highlights the strong global resonance of NCKU Overseas Week and the growing international interest in the university’s globally oriented research themes.
