NCKU Overseas Hub in Vietnam hosted the Webinar event with the title “Fly high with National Cheng Kung University” on March 11th, 2021 to introduce the updated scholarship policy and many exchange programs and scholarship programs from NCKU’s Department or partners. Thanks to the detailed introduction and enthusiastic support by the NCKU Office of International Affairs, representatives from the Institute of International Business –NCKU, from Cathay United Bank, and German student from the Exchange program, viewers have an overall view and user experience in the application procedure. This webinar receives many remarkable results as attracting the attention of people from many different regions. Through the positive and active responses from online viewers, it reflects the attractiveness of study in NCKU and in Taiwan.

Firstly, Dr. Hien introduced the purpose of the Webinar, delegate guests from National Cheng Kung University, TUDa, and Cathay Bank United. Then the attendees presented their presentations.

The 1st speech is by Ms. Maxine Yang to introduced NCKU scholarships and updated policies. In Maxine Yang’s presentation, she clearly demonstrated the slogan of NCKU: “Seek for truth, toil for good” through shared about scholarship programs like Spring and Fall semester programs, VCS (Veritas et Conscientia) programs for Ph.D. students, Huayu Enrichment Scholarships, some scholarships from Taiwan government (MOE, MOFA, MOST, etc). NCKU brought a friendly environment for international students because they had many courses taught in English and they had a large community to help each other. In addition, NCKU also has many modern facilities like a library, KnowLEDGE, T-bike were free for NCKU students, and NCKU app to guide new students. In this current Covid-19 situation, most students had a concern about quarantine fees and quarantine location. Scholarship offers for the upcoming Fall and Spring semester as well as was received huge attraction from the viewers and ISAD confirmed that NCKU always dedicated the best things to the most talented candidates.

The next part is the speech of Mr. Jens Grunward. He was a German student from the Exchange program of the Dept. of Computer Science and Information Engineering. He talked about his application period for this program took a year and a half and also his experiences about studying and presenting at NCKU, learning Chinese, making new friends, and traveling in his free time.

Next, Prof. Tseng Chiung-Hui – Director of Institute of International Business introduced the history of this institute as well the academic field they had like strategy, financial, management and marketing. Then, she shared about the amazing scholarship with the cooperation between NCKU and CUB with the title: “2021 NCKUxCathay United Bank International Master Scholarship Program” for students who had nationality from Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. The selected students would receive many good offers like visa application fee, a 1-way ticket to Taiwan, tuition fee, course credit fee, monthly allowance, health insurance, accommodation, and Chinese language training. She didn’t forget to remind them about the timeline and procedure application. Moreover, they would have the opportunity to do an internship at Cathay Bank and if they had a good performance, they could be recruited to work at the Cathay Bank Branch in their home country. In the Q&A part, a viewer from Myanmar would like to apply for this scholarship but she hadn’t an English certificate and also the current unstable political situation in Myanmar could not allow for taking a test but Prof. Tseng very kindly responded and supported her by considering Myanmar’s applicant. Besides that, she also gave some useful advice for Cambodia’s viewers who are interested in this scholarship.

In the last presentation, Mr. Damien – Specialist of the Human Resource Department in Cathay United Bank introduced his bank. CUB, which had been established in 1975, was the biggest private bank in Taiwan with 165 branches in over 12 countries. He shared the scholarship information about “NCKUxCUB”, scholarships requirement, and internship opportunity.

At the end of the Webinar, the panelists hoped that the viewers could have an overview of NCKU and some NCKU’s Scholarship information. In addition, this Webinar brought some outstanding results:  Webinar's introductory post had received a lot of attention from the viewers with over 2000 people concerned about it and nearly 100 interactions for this post. The webinar reached approximately 990 people, got 665 views within 3 days, and had a sharply dramatic increase. Not only in Vietnam, but this Webinar also attracted international viewers from 9 countries like Taiwan, the USA, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, Germany, Australia, Myanmar, and Thailand.
