The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has defined endemic to be the constant presence and/or usual prevalence of a disease or infectious agent in a population, within a geographic area. Based on the improving COVID-19 situation in recent weeks, Malaysia is now ready to enter the endemic phase. Malaysia needs to have fewer than 1,200 cases and fewer than 10 deaths a day for seven consecutive days to join countries such as the United Kingdom, which has declared COVID-19 as an endemic. Notwithstanding, the shift from pandemic to endemic will be defined differently throughout the world. This webinar will bring together leaders and experts from the National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), the Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), Mahidol University (Thailand), and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) to share their insights and discuss the way Higher Education Institutions should move forward as the COVID-19 situation improves.

The webinar titled “COVID-19 is shifting from pandemic to endemic – but what does that mean for Higher Education Institutions?” will be the final webinar for the NCKU Overseas Week event. The goals of this session includes the following: 1) To share the latest COVID-19 developments in universities around the world, 2) To discuss leading practices in dealing with COVID-19 in the Higher Education Institutions, and 3) To understand the impact of the COVID-19 endemic phase on Higher Education Institutions.
