NCKU AISSM @ UPM: Bridging Research, Talent & Innovation

On 13 April 2026 (2:00 PM), the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing (AISSM), National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan continued its Malaysia engagement with an insightful visit to the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
The session emphasized meaningful academic exchange and explored practical collaboration opportunities across engineering, physics, and semiconductor-related disciplines.
The AISSM delegation was led by Prof. Wei-Chou Hsu (Dean), joined by Prof. Yu-Lung Lo, Prof. Ming-Chi Chou, Prof. Lih-Yih Chiou and Ms. Phoebe Lu, with coordination support from Ms. Haridah Alias (NCKU Overseas Hub in Malaysia).
UPM was represented by distinguished academicians and researchers, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Zainal Abidin Ab Kadir (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Mohd Nizar Hamidon (Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Mustafa Awang Kechik (Head, Physics Department), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suriati Paiman (Physics Department), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Ain Kamsani (Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmah Hanim Mohamed Ariff (Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Department), Ir. Dr. Mohd Hafis Sulaiman (Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering) and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Nuraini Abdul Aziz (Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Department).
A highlight of the visit was the tour of UPM’s research facilities, including the Microelectronic & Nanoelectronic Laboratory and the Computer & Embedded Systems Engineering Laboratory, where both sides exchanged insights on current research, emerging technologies, and potential areas for collaboration.
The discussion went beyond introductions—focusing on building future-ready partnerships, including joint research, talent development, and mobility programs that connect Malaysia and Taiwan’s academic ecosystems.
