Starting the Webinar with 3 joint research groups of DUT and NCKU. Dr. Ta Ngoc Ly and Prof. Hsin-Yi Hung kicked off with their presentation “The Role of Traditional Medicine in Overcome Antibiotic Resistance of Bacteria in The Biofilm Communities”. Dr. Ly showed the audience the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance and bacterial biofilm formation. He mainly focuses on anti quorum sensing and natural compounds to treat biofilm due to their effectiveness.
For choosing the best solution against biofilm, they stated that the aqueous extract of Sterculia lychnophora dry fruit has the ability to treat dry cough by inhibiting bacterial biofilm formation. Their study will identify the magical mechanism of anti quorum sensing of active biological compounds extracted from Sterculia lychnophora fruits. At the end of the speech, the Speakers hoped that the application of Sterculia lychnophora in medicine would be known more, especially for dry cough treatment. Prof. Hung also shared the Lab environment and research field.

Ms. Fang Yi Lee continued the Webinar with a presentation titled "Remote Patient Tracking and Monitoring System in Hospital Based on Lorawan Wireless Technology". The urgency of the project was shown by the fact that many hospitals do not have enough beds for patients due to a lack of medical staff. She expected this project will reduce the risk of happening to patients, also reduce hospital personnel costs and effectively support in cases of patient overloading. The project included the study of new wireless technology, LoRa/LoRaWAN which makes it easier to manage patients in large hospitals and will be a more effective technology alternative to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Wifi thanks to its low-cost and long-range network.
The speech with the topic “Remote Patient Tracking and Monitoring System in Hospital Based on Lorawan Wireless Technology” was presented by Dr. Tran Van Lic - Ms. Fang Yi Lee
Next section, Dr. Nguyen Ba Kien, Dr. Le Quoc Huy and Prof. Kuan-Zong Fung gave a presentation titled "Zinc Anode Surface Engineering for Improving The Performance of Rechargeable Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery". To begin the presentation, they insisted that rechargeable batteries are a promising technology to minimize dependence on fossil fuels by using them for electric vehicles (EVs), especially, rechargeable zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) technology is the best solution to adapt for large-scale applications due to the low cost of materials and its superior safety in comparison with lithium and other metals. After that, they introduced the charge storage mechanism and surface engineering to improve the performance of ZIBs and lots of research data was given by the Speaker to support the above hypothesis. Prof. Kuan-Zong Fung confirmed that V2O5 based oxides may be used as intercalation cathode for ZIB.
Dr. Nguyen Ba Kien & Dr. Le Quoc Huy - Prof. Kuan-Zong Fung shared with all participants the topic: “Zinc Anode Surface Engineering for Improving the Performance of Rechargeable Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery”
The next topic is from a group of HUET and NCKU - Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Linh and Prof. Guan-Da Syu, “Research and Development of The Electrochemical Sensor Device for Detecting White Spot Syndrome Virus in Farmed Shrimp”. The urgency of this research came from an increase in the spreading of the white spot disease on a large scale. This disease leads to a negative consequence on the aquaculture industry in general and on the shrimp farming industry in particular. The group introduced a way to deal with this issue by electrochemical sensor (EC) technology. Their impressive research on testing the combination of biological sensor and measuring system was delightfully shared with the audience. Due to its high sensitivity and selectivity, it is suitable for applying the system to detect White Spot Syndrome Virus.
Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Linh - Prof. Guan-Da Syu, enthusiastically shared their topic, “Research and Development of The Electrochemical Sensor Device for Detecting White Spot Syndrome Virus in Farmed Shrimp”
Finally, Dr. Le Dai Vuong and Prof. Pai-Chun Wei were delighted in sharing their research “Fabrication and research of electrical properties of textured (K0,48Na0,48Li0,04)(Nb0,95Sb0,05)O3 lead-free ceramics”. Firstly, Dr. Vuong proved the method of grain orientation on the basis of the NaNbO3 template is simple and effective. The important parameters in representative lead-free piezoelectric ceramics are superior to lead-based, which made a big reason to implement this ceramics research. After that, he hoped they could develop high-performance textured piezo/ferroelectric ceramics, the Speaker expected the final report would end next year. The research plan was publicated to the audience, they hopefully expected their great work in the future could provide the participant with knowledge of fabrication and properties of textured (K0,48Na0,48Li0,04)(Nb0,95Sb0,05)03 lead-free ceramics. Next, Prof. Pai-Chun Wei was delighted to share the crystal structure refinement, surface characterization, grain size & orientation, domain structure of piezo/ferroelectric material
