NCKU Virtual Mobility Program: Oral Health Care in The Elderly- Problems and Solutions

Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry (MUDT), and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, co-organized the webinar titled “2023 NCKU Virtual Mobility Program: Oral Health Care in The Elderly- Problems and Solutions”, held on three different sessions on July 5,6 and July 12, 2023.

Prof. Dr. Waranun Buajeeb, Dean’s Advisor of MUDT, as Director of NCKU Overseas Hub in Thailand, along with Dr. Suchit Poolthong, President of the Dental Council of Thailand, delivered their opening remarks to start the webinar.

Following the opening session, Lect. Binit Shrestha from the Department of Prosthodontics (Maxillofacial Prosthetics section) of MUDT, as a webinar moderator, introduced Thai and international experts who were invited to deliver academic presentations on the following topics:

  1. “Burning Mouth Syndrome and the Elderly” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Yu-Hsueh Wu School of Dentistry, College of Medicine, NCKU, Taiwan
  2. “Finite Element Analysis in Dentistry”by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekachai Chaichanasiri, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University
  3. “Applying Age-related Physiological Changes in Dental Care for Older Adults” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapitchaya Sriwannopas, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University

July 6, 2023

  1. “Challenges in Providing Oral Health Care for Frail Older Adults” by Dr. Matana Kettratad-Pruksapong Faculty of Dentistry, Thammasat University
  2. “Oral Health Care for Nursing Home Dwelling Older Adults – Challenges and Enablers” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jacob John, Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia
  3. “Zirconia Overlay: Restoration Solutions of Severely Worn Dentition” by Prof. Dr. Shu-Fen Chuang, Institute of Oral Medicine, NCKU, Taiwan

Apart from these scientific lectures, there are a group video presentation and announcement of the winning teams, and a prize distribution ceremony on July 12 to conclude the webinar.

This webinar is held as a hybrid event; onsite at MU-NCKU Hub (Joint Research Center) in the multipurpose area on the first floor of the 50ᵗʰ Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building of MUDT, and online via Cisco Webex Meetings, and Facebook Live: NCKU Overseas Hub in Thailand.
